I have a bunch of fun charms (mobile charm from a temple recently, Riddler coin in my wallet, a prosperity bead bracelet from an Indigenous artist in Taiwan, etc. etc.) but the most permanent one is the silver pendant my mum made me wear as a child and I literally never take it off except for those chest x-rays, it feels very odd to do so, I feel kind of naked without it.
TIL it was considered a precious stone for centuries, as one of the cardinal gems (the rest being diamond, ruby, sapphire and emerald) until massive deposits were discovered in Brazil. Now it is considered a semi-precious stone. It highlighted to me how so much is totally based on human desire.
I just think it's super pretty and even if the world labels it a "purple quartz" (quartz having a more generic perception in the crystal/gem market, sadly) I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for it in thrift from now on!
I wear a bat ring bc I was attacked by a bat when I was younger. I wear a horseshoe ring bc im scared of horses. Oh my star-hoop earrings? I got them on clearance from PacSun in high school for $1! My necklace is ammonite—did u know that it’s actually a fossil?
It was on TCM the other night, and I found myself watching. A little silly but fun to watch, icons Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton getting in and out of scrapes. A good movie to watch while writing your resume. ;)
