How interested we are in delaying the inevitable when the inevitable has never been anything other than the most patient, caring lover on earth. I don't even know what to say except read it immediately! If you love short story collections like me, you'll enjoy these twelve dream-like, magical realist tales about grief, time, death, aging, dissatisfaction, relationships, and love. Specifically, the titular Exit Zero ๐Ÿฆ„ and Viola In Midwinter ๐Ÿง›๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ, both of which left me feeling as if I had just finished a novel.

Absolutely loved this uncanny collection of short stories. Ling Ma creates depth and discomfort in her characters so well, and creeps up on you with narratives thatโ€™ll leave you thinking. Severance (her novel) was also one of my favorite reads last year.

Everybody meet Tomato! (government name: Chloe) She is a very very shy but sweet little lady who is one year old. I already feel like we're kindred spirits because we both take a while to warm to people. She is currently sitting comfortably with the dust bunnies under my bed.
