I have one ongoing called "baby names of the future" that is currently 342 baby names such as: Tuba D'Cincinnati, Italianx Thrombosis, Philadelphia Gillium, Th'Beast, Pizza Nicolas, Jizz Louis (pronounced Geez Louise), Jimberly, Spirulina, Póppinoff, and Mmmmmmmmm. The gift that keeps on giving.
I am intent on breaking our family curse (my mom has 6 brothers/no sisters I have 3 brothers/no sisters) by having four daughters named: Norah, George, Francis, and Minnow. Like ok call me Marmee March. I know what you’re thinking… aRen’T FranCiS aNd gEorGe bOy naMes? No. They’re daughter names. This plan involves a chihuahua or any other small dog with an off putting vibe named Cabbage and a greyhound named Franklin. There will also be two cats named Handsome + Thursday. Plan B is to be a spinster in Manhattan which sounds equally appealing. Bonus: my cousin has named her three children after islands in Alaska and her youngest is named Storey Luella (named after Storey Island) which I think is beautiful n magical and she’s the cutest kid ever
It occurs to me... that the posts I most connect with are ones where people unfurl their weirdo habits, values, inner lives (i love the "crush" genre of pi posts), ways of living, likes, dislikes, life philosophical points of view etc. I do treasure proper recs with an object, i.e. a new record or book or 8 hour youtube video, but I find myself really moved when someone shares how they live a good life. appreciating!!
I've been on a real journey lately. You see the person across the room and you know them... and you know they know you... but you know that they aren't going to come over and say hi... do it. Take the plunge. However the approach needs to happen, make contact. Don't wait until you see them at the next networking event and say "hey were you at the taco place the other day?" It's surprisingly empowering and frankly kind of an impressive social maneuver. The reward is giddy and powerful and immediate. It makes me feel like I've broken out of the matrix.
