i’ve wanted to know more about the troubles and the long lasting violence in northern ireland for a while but wasn’t sure where to go to learn about it but i just started this book a couple days ago and it’s really good im actually not usually a non fiction reader and haven’t really read them since i was like a young child but this is really well written and informative, i’d think it’s hard to retain information from like historical and non fiction writing cause i’ve only really done it recently for classes in school but i guess it’s different when you’re doing it out of choice and your own interest plus you don’t have to worry about having to remember names or dates and you might just pick it up naturally only coming up to 50 pages in but i’ve already learnt so much, really recommend and ive only heard good things about it in general, want to watch the series of it after

game of thrones is RIVETING like just so good, i’m motoring through those books! i also cannot suggest more highly Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe and Killers of the Flower Moon (which was way way way better than movie, i think the movie did a disservice to the original story!!)

i am a HUGE nonfiction junkie, truth is often stranger and more curious than fiction!! my favorite book ever is Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe, it’s such an incredibly well-written and deeply researched story about the troubles that i’m nearly certain the new tv show cannot recreate fully. READ THIS BOOK it is a masterclass on long form journalism and research, and it reads like a novel!!

mystery thriller set in the Irish town of Kinlough 20 years after the disappearance of a teenage girl, Kala. almost finished it and i’ve really enjoyed it. it goes between three narrators and shifts between the past, 20 years earlier and before the disappearance, and the present as they are brought back to the loss of their friend. id say it fits into the ‘haunting the narrative’ genre thats quite popular now lol. don’t take my word for it by its a sort of similar concept to twin peaks where the audience starts to learn more about the character (Kala/Laura) and what happened to them through watching/reading which i like. i really like the perspective of Helen who was one of Kala’s best friends and it’s especially nice seeing their friendship and how she viewed Kala so purely and with love in contrast to the quite scary and adult world Kala is being exposed to as we see over time.

there’s something so funny about seeing a friend before they notice you cause it’s like a look into what they’re like alone seeing how they walk when they’re by themselves or their expression when they’re just going about or looking around

most of the time it’s internet archive but i’ll take anything (to a point obviously i actually have some standards for illegal websites) i’ve actually been so successfully recently though so try it won’t work really for newer films which obviously makes sense but if you don’t want to pay like £10 for a film that isn’t really on many streaming services then try this and you might win
