today, i sipped my morning coffee and read a new book in bed while i waited for the rain to clear up. then i went for a long walk in my local park and picked up tacos after for a late lunch. on my way home, i took some quiet back roads i’m not super familiar with and just cruised super slow, windows down appreciating at the homes, the playground, the trees, the post rain freshness in the air. a guy on a bike turned the corner in front of me super close, but i didn’t honk, i didn't really need to. i was going slow enough to be impressed by how deftly he turned that corner and next one turning off the road just as quickly, tires screeching and sliding on the slick road (and how hot he was). it felt nice to just breathe deeply and move slowly.

This morning I brought my car to the mechanic first thing. Didn’t have anywhere to be for the rest of the day, so challenged myself to enjoy a slow walk home—could have been 40 min, ultimately took 4 hours. I stopped to smell my neighbors‘ flowers, to buy a new pencil at the art store, and to read in a park for a while (big shoutout to the Libby app and city parks). I‘ve been talking to a therapist about how I wake up every morning worried about whatever I have scheduled, and tend to ruminate on failures towards the end of the day. Today I didn’t dwell on the future or the past, just lived in the present. 10/10 experience.

If you have a moment alone and are able to convince yourself not to rush. It feels really good to take a nonsensical path, slow and deliberate, and listen to the trees and spirits you come across, and not gaf if people think you move like a crazy person (helps to do it at night, but be safe always). Release yourself from the social norm of moving like you're always late for an errand

take the longer route just because you know you’ll see that pretty tree. let your drink cool on its own. spend 15 minutes preparing your meal. enjoy waiting! time isnt fleeting.

i’m over intermittent fasting. i’m over fasted cardio. i’m over starving myself. i’m into nourishing my body. recently watched some podcasts featuring dr. stacy sims and she explains how a lot of fitness advice is based on male physiology and is super detrimental to women based on our hormonal profile. eating (and drinking water) first thing in the morning makes me feel great in general and i can tell in the quality of my workouts. i‘m finding it very restorative to focus on how i can make my body feel good and function well versus agonizing over restricting myself. mentally, its a game changer. much better way to set the tone for the day. bonus recommendation dr. stacy sims on mel robbins’ podcast or on the huberman lab (if u want more weedy discussion)

the shell makes the snack. the little cracking sound as it snaps apart in your fingers is almost worth it on its own. i love sharing them (my mom and i used to do this often growing up) and watching them pile up. it’s messy, but not too messy. it’s fussy, but not too fussy. i like the taste too.
