i LOVEEEE a24 in a way that’s really serious. if i had to choose my top 5, it would be mid90’s, the florida project, hereditary, everything everywhere all at once, and lady bird. honorable mention would be the curse for a tv series :)
I’ll hav to go classic and say hereditary…. I’ve seen it 10 times and still get the chills and discover new things with every watch, might be my fav film!
Uncut gems is also really close, it’s not that intricate so I don’t watch it that much for the essence to still hit me lol. One of the coolest films
To end this id say past lives… the way they represent love is to me the truest way of loving someone, will always be a part of your life
*the substance* because it was the one 2024 film that crawled under my skin and stayed there
*aftersun* bc of its quiet yet soul crushing portrayal of familial bonds and mental illness, all through the lens of a coming of age story
*jackie brown* bc of the soundtrack and pam grier (duh!)
*black swan* bc a cunty schizophrenic ballerina changed the course my life in a cinema when i was 18
nothing touches my soul deeper than the sound of music. all of the women in my family have cherished the movie forever, and i grew up listening to the music. everytime i hear that opening song, i cry and am flooded with pure and unadulterated joy. i’m convinced my nana is in fact maria, making it that much sweeter for me. a perfect film that makes me believe that musicals are the closest thing we have to magic.
this past week, my last week of college ever, my roommates and i were given baby squirrels to nurse back to health. we did, and now they are at a wildlife rehab center. :) couldn't make this shit up if i tried.
