The StoryGraph app has single-handedly reinvigorated my reading habit. Super simple and no frills interface, and a great independently owned alternative to Goodreads (they can even transfer your profile over!) As a big Letterboxd user, having a way to log and track and check things off is very satisfying, and helps me get that little hit of external validation. I don’t really follow people on StoryGraph or use it for social stuff or thorough reviews, but it’s a great way to keep track of what you’ve read, what you’re reading, and what you want to read. Please note I’ve only read 6 or 7 books this year, but that still feels like an improvement on last year, and approaching a return to form.

Y’all are not actually bringing terrible movies to the table here I wanna see actual trash recs!!! Jurassic Shark is often my pick because it’s terrible in all the normal low budget ways, but either intentionally or unintentionally subverts a lot of those tropes. It has a lot of heart! A lot of Canadian vibes! Despite its genre it also didn’t feel excessively exploitative! It had this completely clueless and rudderless direction that felt naive and charming, and if you’re a fan of bad movies, or shark movies, it’s a must.

Even if it’s renting a house outside the city together, even if you have to pinch pennies for it. The quality time is worth the headache.
