Was listening to some Gary Stewart and this song came on after. I listened to it and I just love how it’s a really simple song and lyrics are just plainly about being an alcoholic.
Also really like his vocals alternate between a nice chocolately baritone and a bass at the right moments.
The album cover is so sick too, just a man off center sitting on a guitar case in the road with an eyepatch. Its so simple but asks so many questions

ty isabela for recommending this somewhere else this is a very good cover and it sounds like i'm trapped in the song shining style but in the best way possible like if you didn't know anything about the shining and saw all those shots of the hotel and thought "wow I wouldn't mind getting stuck there for months"

Underrated folk artist. Great lyrics. He did a whole album of Springsteen covers that goes surprisingly hard, and he covered Chelsea Hotel before it was cool.
Table Cloth, Nothing To Say, Falling In Love With Your Best Friend, the list goes on.

Truly one of those songs where the cover becomes infinitely more iconic than the OG. That said I’ve been collecting my fav song covers for a while so in a lot of ways this is an impossible choice but this song has been a staple for me lately

I met Erin (@RIOTGRRRL) and Jake (@SLOWDAZZLE) last year after I started using PI.FYI—we organized a meetup before a Jonathan Richman show and immediately clicked over our shared taste in music and similar sensibilities. We started hanging out a lot and had some great times together. I’ve also gotten to know many of their friends, who are all really cool. Erin and Jake started dating a couple of months after the three of us became friends, but our group chat still pops off. Their friendship has meant a lot to me, especially since moving to NYC in 2023, and I really appreciate having them in my life.
