being presented with a situation and knowing that a younger version of you would’ve felt or thought or done something different and probably worse than what your instinct is now

i recently hung out with a friend and we were talking about all the adventures we used to go on as kids, and how simple there were looking back on them. running along railroads, looking for cool rocks in creeks, climbing trees, etc. it feels stupid to complain about losing that sense of adventure as an adult when it's still right there, exactly where we left it when we decided we were too cool for it as 13-year-olds. so basically all this to say, go find a railroad, climb some trees, maybe graffiti a train. you'll see that the childlike sense of adventure is still there, still a part of you. you just have to tap back in and let your imagination loose. be the self proclaimed katniss everdeen that 13 year old you could only dream of and hope to become πŸ™‚β€β†•οΈπŸ™‚β€β†•οΈ

As the only true third spaces left in a world where you can hardly leave your house without having to spend money, supporting and utilizing these public services has become more necessary than ever. People don't realize just how many free services are offered by their local branches. From workshops, to free access to online classes and audiobooks, museum passes, movie nights, private study rooms, equipment available to borrow, community building – it's so much more than just borrowing books (which is also cool, btw). Also a great alternative to loitering at a coffee shop.

You can connect the app to any of your existing public library cards for free e-books and audiobooks. I fell in love with audiobooks in 2023. They make time fly on my long subway commutes, and help me nourish my brain during mindless tasks. I used to hit my monthly Spotify limit and have to wait a whole month to finish my book. It was equally frustrating to realize halfway through a book that I actually hated it and had no desire to finish it. Discovering Libby has been a game changer, in a low-commitment & high-reward type of way.
