earlier this week i woke up having suddenly remembered a particular toy i loved when i was really small and somehow managed to find it by guessing the brand and finding one of their 90's catalogs??😅 far easier than expected given that i only knew for certain that it had a turtle in it (attached is my lousy drawing of it as i saw it in my memory). hoping it's buried deep in my dad's basement cus i would love to have it as a conversation piece & they're like $70 on ebay now LOL

start on google. try searching the brand name, a description, or the year(s) you think you might have gotten the toy or think it may be from. usually that will give you a few keywords you can punch into ebay. there is nothing like the joy of once again seeing the dollhouse that your mom gave away without asking! you were small once, your memories are real, you were so full of imagination!!

This band is called the Siesta Singers. I collected them from the insides of chocolate eggs from 2004-2005, but lost contact with them in the years since. Recently, I decided to track them down and found they could be sent to my door for a reasonable £6.20. I can’t tell if they are exactly the same guys, but they still play in time when you press down on their hats. I heartily recommend reconnecting with old gizmos and friends. -Luke

I just rediscovered this joy the other day, and I spent the day driving around & listening to my favorite music while hunting these down at various stores. I definitely recommend engaging with a childhood interest again if you can; it brought me such a pure and simple form of joy that I haven't felt in a while. I guess I thought I was too old to be doing this and that I had to spend my money on practical stuff, but then I remembered we're all just here on the planet to have fun. Any sort of little mission I can go on with an objective to locate something is always fun to me as well. I felt like I was on a quest to various Targets & Walmarts. People online have also cracked the product codes so you CAN figure out which pet you're getting if you don't want to waste your money, but the surprise is super fun as well. They're super cheap, like $3-$4 a piece. The search for them was the most fun part, but looking at them on my windowsill is also very cute.

since the first day of middle school (and i remember this cus it felt like a Very Big Day for me) my alarm has been set as Walk Don't Run by The Ventures cus i was a little surf guitar loving dweeb. u would think i'd be tired of it after 15 yrs of setting multiple alarms to wake myself up/take my meds etc but i'm not! people always comment on how nice it is when they hear it too... esp my granddad ^_^

like many baristas my age, i had an affinity for french pop music as a highschooler, particularly "yé-yé", which was what they called 60's pop! i was down with a bad case of main character syndrome (a common symptom of being a teenager) so i loved the drama of it all - chic and taboo like smoking secret cigarettes 🙄 i was also taking french in school - i was terrible at it but being able to vaguely understand the lyrics helped me to appreciate it even more. flash fwd a few years & i was finally presented with the opportunity to travel to france!!! i never ever thought i'd get to see paris but the stars aligned and i spent a week there in summer 2023 with my fiancé and my dad (which was particularly special bc i never get to travel with him) 🥺 it was incredibly romantic (despite the lack of air conditioning...wtf europe) and i had also gotten my garçon into the french music i'd loved as a teen so our visit was soundtracked by the likes of françoise hardy, jacqueline taïeb, jacques brel, sylvie vartan, jacques dutronc, jane birkin, serge gainsbourg (melody nelson holds up if i pretend i don't know what he's saying!!) etc 🥰 the video i linked is one of the only videos i took while in paris, and it's possibly my fav video i've taken ever - the little girl i accidentally caught dancing in front of the eiffel tower makes me smile every time i watch it.
