One of the best museums I've ever been to. They pretty much only have special exhibitions that last about three months, but the curation is incredible. Most museums and galleries don't seem to want to foreground their curators' perspectives and opinions, but they absolutely do here. The feeling of walking through four floors of art followed by descriptions that are full of adverbs and adjectives is so refreshing. They're putting on "The First Homosexuals: The Birth of a New Identity, 1869-1939" right now and I spent almost 4 hours there. Chicago rec! Photo is Alice Austen's "The Darned Club" from 1891.

If you like going to the movies and have a selection of AMCs near you it’s an unbelievably good deal. Even at my most destitute I have refused to cancel this membership because it’s basically a free activity anytime and a fun little date with myself. 3 movies a week for $25/month??? I will never shut up about this.

Caught Vertigo there recently; one of the most enchanting films ever made, incredible experience.

Film Forum is the OG but Metrograph is younger and hungrier, with a more diverse slate of films and an emphasis on rediscovered or neglected classics. Great atmosphere too, with a restaurant and bookstore. you can’t go wrong!

If you’re throwing a party in the summer and your window unit is not quite strong enough to make your apartment reasonably cool, get paper fans for everyone! It makes a huge difference

if you buy some superglue and a pack of (strong) magnets you can make almost anything of a certain size into a magnet for your fridge! I don’t really like pins because idk what to do with them and have discovered just gluing a magnet to the back of them and putting them on my fridge! I had this epiphany while making clay magnets—an idea my friend had for a party at her house.

A Tinder-style app for clearing out your camera roll: swipe right to keep a photo and left to get rid of it. Might sound intimidating, but you can pick it up or put it down whenever. Best part is no ads or premium version!
