In Hawaiian, the meaning of Kanaka Maoli is ‘true people’. People usually call it the original flag of Hawaii and prefer it to the flag with the Union Jack ’cause it has no colonial stuff. It’s still a big symbol for kanaka everywhere.
Since they believe it represents their identity, it’s just as legit as any other flag. I just think it’s super cool and really pretty. Looks a lot like the rasta flag too.
I’m Brazilian, so yeah I’m biased, but I love our flag too. The concept is awesome and the history behind it is so interesting.

Okay, quick disclaimer: I know most art is political (firm believer here!), but I'm talking enjoyment-first right now. That said, I absolutely encourage consuming things with different viewpoints from yours! If I'm watching a political documentary I hate, I'll probably keep going because the goal is education, not instant enjoyment.
But a show I just find... bad? Why waste precious time forcing myself through something purely unenjoyable when the whole point is to relax or be entertained? Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those people who drops a show after hating the pilot – it needs an opportunity to prove itself for a few episodes! Luckily, I just tend to really enjoy what I'm watching once I get past that haha.

I keep saving them for "special times" , it’s just like those stickers from middle school all over again. I never used them because I was waiting for the right moment... but they were just stickers. Just like these are just candles.
My room’s never smelled nicer, and it’s just monday.
