Graham Hunt is slept on. got into him via his last album’s lead single, Emergency Contact. the song’s line, “trash out the window like it’s 1986, cus you wanna show this neighborhood how the world really is,“ always makes me chuckle when i hear it. his studio debut on Run For Cover is called Timeless World Forever, and it blows his last record (which i enjoyed) out of the water. FFO: Weezer, early Beck, pop music with unique textures/instrumental choices, and emotional songwriting that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

producer turned singer songwriter Graham Johnson is back and folkier, scuzzier, and janglier than ever. so cool to see how far he’s developed from his lofi beats days. the track Take it From Me is gorgeous.

(Andrew Savage of Parquet Courts fame, also a great band to see live)  I saw him with his touring band last November at Bowery Ballroom and it was (one of) the best shows I’ve ever seen. The band could not have been better. Savage’s more tender and atmospheric songs were executed with grace and gravity, his punkier music delivered with all the force it calls for. If you are unfamiliar, check him out. He is a truly unique lyricist and songwriter, which comes through especially on his two phenomenal solo albums. Yesterday, he released this new song^ “Black Hole, the Stars and You,” and of course, I love it. Also, check out his artwork. He’s a great designer and painter.
