HARLEY BENTON GITS

You can buy like two HB gits for £300. Their mid models start at around £150 while their “pro” models start at around £350. I’ve been very happy with mine. Also look for a git with either humbuckers or P90 pickups for distortion. The humbuckers will give you a heavy controllable dist while the P90 will give you a fat and wild dist. The P90s are noisy af and pickup feedback easily (but might be just what youre looking for if shoegaze)
