I think there’s an attitude of “I was here first” or something, some sort of pride in having been in the thing in question’s corner for a long time, which like, very cool! you called it!—if anything, this development should affirm your confidence in your own “good taste”, whatever that happens to look like—but I truly feel delighted when someone I’ve been rooting for makes it big. Parker Posey brought this to mind, obviously. I have loved her since the first time I saw her incredible turn in Josie and the Pussycats, and even though I don’t have any real intention to watch this new White Lotus season, I get a tremendous sense of satisfaction from seeing her get the acclaim I think she’s deserved her whole life. I think it’s fantastic. I wish everyone liked what I like as much as I like it. A huge win for me.
