The broken column by frida kahlo

as a fellow disabled bisexual communist I obviously love Frida Kahlo. This painting could move me to tears when I was going through the first major bouts of my illness. Doubly important to me because I was first introduced to it in a philosophy of art seminar where we were asked to submit pieces to talk about and my best uni friend, Alice, submitted this. We became inseparable shortly after.

fell in love with another pop artist at the museum today. she uses casts of her face in so many of her sculptures and i think it’s so personal in like an abstract way that speaks to the soul. #idk i’m just a pop art fan
