My dad bought it for me as a birthday gift when I was a kid because I was obsessed with the track Black Magic Woman- I played that record into oblivion. But! the first record that I ever bought for myself was a 7” of Hammer Horror by Kate Bush with Coffee Homeground on the B side.

Not one I purchased, but the first CD I was given as a child. Used to listen to this in the car with my grandmother when she’d pick me up and drive me to ballet lessons. Very formative album for me since it’s this and the live version of landslide that were the first “real” music I can remember hearing. If it’s first music I personally purchased… a bunch of random cds from the used book store when I was in middle school. Don’t know what would be in that stack.

by Sarah Mclaughlan. I apparently used to ask my mom to put on the “la la la” song and she would pop this bad boy in. for some reason this cinematic soundtrack was the version we had and i think i'm better for it honestly.

I was 13 years old and asked for my first ever vinyl for my birthday: Doolittle by Pixies. I had spent the past year developing an obsession with this album that still stands today. You can’t beat a classic.

It’s both action-packed and deeply meditative. amazing performances accompanied by an iconic soundtrack; it‘s philosophical, moving and undeniably one of the coolest films ever made.
