Here are my fav records that I have been listening to lately, this lineup strikes me as very "pi.fyi-core". Hope you enjoy :) (in order of appearance) -Thinking Fellers Union Local 282: Lovelyville <discovered this reading some Robert Schneider interviews after seeing the Apples in Stereo play for the W.C. Hart memorial show in Athens> -DJO: The Crux <That guy from Stranger Things has a set of pipes, great happy album> Panda Bear: Sinister Gift <sounds like The Beach Boys! the parts that don't are kinda atmospheric and very very pretty> Bon Iver: SABLE, fABLE <he strikes again. very stripped back but absolutely gorgeous. Justin literally can not make a song that isnt somehow lush and cold at the same, like being covered in a sheet of ice that keeps you warm. He has this interview where he talks about the work and thought process behind it. Very cool!> Black Country, New Road: Forever Howlong <this album features almost entirely female vocals, a nice change since Issac Wood left the band, and the vocals, piano, and woodwind instumetaion are just absolutely gorgeous, sounds like rain smells. Cameron Winter: Heavy Metal <since half of this app is from Brooklyn, I'm sure you know this guy! He sings for the band Geese, but this record doesn't sound much like Geese at all. It has some of the craziest lyrics.I have heard in a hot minute, and is adorned by ~usually~ sparse and skeletal instruments, as well as Camerons odd yet alluring voice. dude holy i have not updated this erm sorry

i have ordered a lot of new CDs. to keep this one short, i'm hopefully going to start my own neocities page and link it. ill still write here but I like the idea of my own webpage. could work for a j*b as well. as for music to keep this SHORT before a big blog post soon. All My Friends - LCD Soundsystem this one speaks for itself. i hyped this one up for about a month before I actually listened to it, which was on my birthday for the right time. it's bittersweet. its a dream you don't want to ever leave. it's a party you never want to see go away. and unfortunately we will never Really live that. only want it. one quotable line: "And if the sun comes up, and I still don't wanna stagger home then it's the memory of our betters that are keeping us on our feet" anyways there's a lot more words to go with this song that I just cant write into this one. maybe another time. shoutout sentriescord for hyping this one up. Drinking Age & Nausicaä (Love Will Be Revealed) - Cameron Winter love takes miles. is already a whole other song that can't be covered here but, WOW. this album has been in my rotation since it's release but it still hasn't failed me. geese too. today / I met who I'm gonna be / From now on / And he's a piece of shit / U R UR ONLY ACHING this is a masterpiece. its beautiful. the subtle tempo changes, the abrupt pause into a synchronized guitar/vox part. how loud it gets. the easing in and out like a wave. the eventual explosion with violins, to a half-time. i changed my life you can too with this song. Front door keys in London, am I alright? Think I'm gonna fake it, one, two, revive Lost some years to talking, now I'm alright Last train out from under, out of my sight two riders down is a whole other song that just. can't be discussed yet. i really love this band. you should too. they need more support, finishing their foreseeable tour only 2 weeks after album release???? guys GO GO GO GO its time to listen to uplifting music this is it. anyways that's it bYE

Night flight plus

Whenever I mention Night Flight Plus, no one knows what I’m talking about. It’s a streaming service named after (and featuring) the USA Network late-night cult series from the 1980s. It also includes a ton of films of the cult, horror, obscure music documentary, and exploitation variety. If you’re looking for Paul Morrissey, Troma Films, Vinegar Syndrome, or outdated TV specials about Minor Threat and Kate Bush, its curation is like a return to Kim’s Video… or my favorite VHS store from San Francisco, Le Video. The other night I watched an English-language Italian fashion giallo from 1988 called Too Beautiful To Die. It’s a totally outrageous masterpiece. It’s my favorite subscription. Feast your eyes.

Northern california thrillers

I was born in San Francisco and raised in Marin and Sonoma (specifically a town called Petaluma) and now that enough decades have past, I have a new appreciation for the beauty of the region—particularly as depicted by Hollywood's great genre filmmakers of the '70s, '80s, and '90s. Of course, this includes great San Francisco movies like Vertigo (Hitchcock), Bullitt (Yates) and The Game (Fincher), but there are so many others that venture out to Monterey, Bodega Bay, and all the way up to Humboldt County. Some of my friends keep a running tally of "NorCal Noir" movies. Some favorites: Salem's Lot (Miniseries, 1979), The Fog (1980), Play Misty For Me (1971), The Birds (1963), The Final Terror (1983), Firefox (1982), Dead and Buried (1981), Murder She Wrote (TV episodes, various), Cujo (1983), Point Blank (1967). There are probably many others but between the midcentury architecture, west coast hippie/yuppie dialectic, atmospheric coastal fog, and rolling hills, it's a distinct vibe that always feels incredibly indulgent and tasteful even when it's lent in service of schlock.

My friend Aaron put me onto Badvril, the best band presently crawling out of San Francisco—the cesspool from whence we all came. And they sound like it, in all the most perfect, sludgy, narcotic, dreamy, total-eclipsing sort of ways. If you like shoegaze, Catherine Wheel, early Pumpkins, '90s alt revival, or melodic punk that pre-dates the Hot Topic era, you will die and go to heaven listening to their I AM GOD EP. that came out in February. The desirous thing about becoming a fan before there is too much noise is that it's easy to catch up on their back catalogue. And then Becket becomes your Instagram friend and sends you the new unreleased album and it's the best music you've ever heard in your life. One wrong move and they could be too huge to handle. I wish them all the money in the world.
