as someone who is currently on summer break while taking some online college classes and working here are some things ive been doing if u want to steal any ideas:
☆ watch a movie by urself in theatres
☆ spend a day at ikea with a friend
☆ journal!
☆ go somewhere with a friend on a whim
☆ drop by an estate sale or thrift store
☆ make lemonade!
☆read a book while sitting outside
☆sit/lay down in the sun or just experience nature (remember sunscreen!)
☆ do fun makeup at least once
☆ look at some bugs
☆ go to the farmers market
☆ write letters to send to ur friends (bonus points if u add stickers or little goodies on the inside or decorate the envelope!)
idk if this counts as productive or not but just go out somewhere on an adventure like to a nearby park or just sit outside on our deck and just chill for a few hours and it’s really fun to just get out of the house
if not go somewhere then just do any chores that need to be done or bake something !!
and don’t do any errands or cleaning that day, just like set a little budget — get a book and read it in the park with a snack, or take yourself out to coffee / people watch and then go see a movie or two. or go to a museum right when it opens and then get lunch (outside!) for yourself and pick something else to do after. for me, at least one part has to be artistic (book/film/art) and another has to be outside (most important part)
then at the end of the day, find a good spot to watch the sunset and journal about your day and feelings!! it feels better because you’ll be in less of a slump after a nice day and will have a lighter mood to be thinking about what’s up
lastly… go home and do a full shower, do the most relaxing possible version of your nightly routine (and no scrolling social media). if you can, wash your sheets a day or two before and put on a fresh set of PJs that night too… it makes crawling into bed that much better (also bonus points if you meditate before you fall asleep)
i find this (one-day vacation? 12 hr solo date?) is a really nice way to reset my brain when everything is overwhelming or i feel like i’m stuck not doing much besides going through the motions. i tend to do it every few weeks lately and it is surprisingly refreshing ✨
I love doing things on a whim!! like shoutout to me and this one other random person who is out here watching "sinners" on a random ass tuesday at 10:30pm in what im pretty sure must be it's last day in theatres 😭😭😭
geniuenly it is so good. they have a random article generator, guess what happened today in history game on the app, and a feature which let's you make lists for all the articles you find :))
good way to learn, get off social media, and cure boredom!
i made a tumblr web weaving type post abt this ages ago, but I was re-reminded of this topic when i saw this rec by @CHICKENONASTICK abt how we are the universe experiencing itself. since you cannot re-rec a post with an image i wanted to bring attention to this brennan lee mulligan quote that i feel is applicable:
