A god-damn majestic oasis. It’s a privately owned public park with a 25 foot waterfall. Go get a bagel or three (not a bagel sandwich, that’s a whole other post) from Ess-a-bagel and chomp on ‘em in the cool shade while you watch people bliss out staring at the waterfall.

ok these are all Manhattan but In Central Park there are quiet areas if you avoid Bethesda terrace strawberry field or whatever the Beatles one is called and sheeps meadow - the conservatory garden is especially nice and p empty The community gardens in alphabet city are small but soooo nice my favorites are the one on the south west corner Ave c and e 9th (there’s like a pond with turtles and shit!!) and one across on north east corner of Ave c and e 9th. Firemen’s memorial garden on e 8th (there’s a koi pond!!) LASTLY Stuyvesant square park (it’s not actually in stuy town) they have beautiful flowers and landscaping and it’s usually very empty and there’s big big fountains

One of my favorite places that‘s somehow still within the city limits. Beautiful any time of year, even when things aren’t in bloom, given the views of the Palisades across the Hudson. You can linger as long as you want so I love to bring a picnic lunch and a book and camp out all day when I go up. The tiny greenhouses, I daresay, have far better variety than either of the city botanical gardens (currently a ton of orchids on) and for the low price of $10. Just an excellent place that no one seems to know about.

Are you sick? No you're not. Not if you take whatever magical mystery powder that makes up Lemsip. I don't know why it works, or why you can't buy it anywhere that isn't a commonwealth country, but I hoard it like there's no tomorrow. Fill my suitcases with it. Amazing. (You genuinely forget you're sick until it wears off a few hours later, so use it strategically.) (Only Lemsip Max holds this power).

At the Museum of Old and New Art in Tasmania (which is the best museum hands down anyway) there's an ongoing piece called "4pm" where composer Dean Stevenson works until 4pm everyday composing a new song. No matter what, a string quartet comes in at 4pm to play what he's made that day. His journal on the work is wild. Best current artist descent into madness.

Whoa. My love for this Kentucky country metal melodrama performer has recently transformed from ironic to unconditional. There’s a song about capital punishment called “Kentucky Fried” but for seasonal vibes, listen to “silent lullaby” (but why does she look like a long-ass Parmigianino baby?)
