there's something so comforting about this aesthetic and how it always takes you back to a place. i'm obsessed with the concept of third spaces, so my mind drifts to a coffee shop with some norah jones track playing on the background while people chat about the mundane yet beautiful.

i've never been to this place before but it brought back a certain magic that feels so lost especially in my small town. they have an additional seating room with a piano, bookshelf to borrow from, chess table, and a handful of bar-style games to play!! it really brings back that "third place" sort of feeling that i've missed so desperately. bring back places to just sit and authentically engage with your hobbies, interests, friends, strangers, etc

- everybody knows my name - options to chill and hang or do some sort of group activity - close to where I live or another area i’m in a lot, good parking (and bike access 🤞) - communal shared identity/cause - aesthetically pleasing space - aux always on point - doesn’t require purchasing something to use (love a cafe/coffee shop but they are businesses at the end of the day) - free wifi

I spent 90% of my summer writing and lounging at this coffeehouse in La Jolla, CA called The Living Room. Feels like Wes Anderson set blended w the summer beach vibes of an Eric Rohmer film + a possible stop in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris. I would gatekeep it but the spot has been blown. And it’s a great place to chat w randoms.
