Sometimes I forget how less stressful doing homework outside can be. Im usually in my dark room at my desk, with nothing but a screen in front of me and some music on the background. However, just a few steps away in my backyard I have a this calming view with cozy lighting, and the sounds of the world as my background music. Earlier one of my neighbors was playing the drums while another neighbor was playing the trumpet, and they’re good at it. There’s also some crickets on the trees to my left, and even the faint humming of the highway a few streets down sounds refreshing after being locked up inside all day. And don’t get me started on this air current, much much better than my hot room in this summer heat. I should start doing all my homework outside.

🌳Sometimes I just need a break from the hustle and bustle of life and to sit on the grass or bench in a quiet park. Listening to the leaves rustling in the breeze and the birds tweeting brings about a sense of calming throughout my body that feels so recharging for my soul.

👂No music, quiet, just listening to anything and everything you can. it can be your own footsteps — focus on your pace if you want. If there are birds near where you live I’d highly recommend the Merlin Bird ID app for birdsong identification. It’s crazy what simply existing in the presence of another living thing can do, especially when that something isn’t human. if you live in a city, listen for people’s laughter or children’s voices. When I feel all consuming sadness it often helps for me to get moving (I like hiking but I live in a place that allows it) but it also helps to listen, and in doing so imagining that I am the same as everything else — the birds, the air, the ground. It takes the pressure off existing.
