I feel like there’s such pressure for creatives of all types to “make a name for themselves”, constantly be promoting and using all the right hashtags. Who cares? What if you just wanna make paintings for fun without monetary gain or fame in mind? What if you wanna make youtube videos just as a personal diary instead of becoming a “content creator” or “influencer”? What if you just enjoy making logos instead of wanting to be a career freelance designer who spends every waking moment keeping up to date on design trends? Maybe your goal is to make money and become popular for your art, and that’s great, go for it! But I think it’s just as valid to enjoy art for arts sake, and not feel a need to worry about posting it consistently and appeasing your followers.

Making art is fun and it doesn't need to be branded or monetized in order to be a success! Create just to create!!!! Not everything needs monetary value to be valuable!!!!!

Making art for your FRIENDS to enjoy

There is such pressure to make art that will satisfy the algorithm or the world at large but there is nothing virtuous about that sort of creation I think. Making art that your friends will like though? There is no better feeling.

Realizing that your not always an ARTISTS target audience

i feel like internet culture has conditioned me to feel like I always have to have an opinion on something. And as a result I’m always judging an artist work as good or bad based on my own individual taste. But it’s absolutely bonkers to think that I’m the target audience for everything an artist that I like makes. Sometime, the song or the painting or the movie ect. Is not for me, and that’s fine. It doesn’t mean what they are producing is bad, it simply means it’s not resonating with me. And thinking this way allows me to respect an artists decision to experiment with their art form a bit more. Because I can only imagine how constricting it must be to feel pressure to create just for people approval and consumption. Maybe sometime the artists just wants to put out a funny little song that makes them happy. And sure, I may not get it and it may not be something I want to listen to, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad, just that it’s not for me, and that’s okay.
