organized religion in general has always been a huge special interest of mine, but christian fundamentalists are just so fascinating to learn about. if you like learning about cults at all, you'll probably find the kind of christian conservatism they cover really interesting. i think as far as being the most digestible and generally interesting, some good videos to start with would be any of these:

🕸these are my fave genre and just generally an interest of mine! i love when they go beyond just reporting what happened and into why/what it says about us and culture. There are lots of creators in this space but here are a few I keep thinking about:
biz barclay’s vid on snapewives: religion, passion, fandom, the early internet.
folding ideas on the metaverse, “the future is a dead mall”: why the idea of the metaverse is so appealing and why all corporate attempts are falling apart
mina le’s recent video about booktok: the aesthetic politics of reading and how that’s at play now
I’ll update if I think of any more and would love to hear if anyone else has recs in this arena

Currently getting through Dan Olson/Folding Idea’s latest video. All of his stuff is great and thoroughly well researched. Some of my fave videos of his: Tuca & Bertie, Flat Earth, and *his critique* of the Nostalgia Critic's *critique* of The Wall by Pink Floyd - his videos on NFTs and The Metaverse are fantastic too

Jenny Nicholson is the god of youtube essays so you probably already know her
Also Defunctland does a lot about adandoned theme parks/the muppets and jim henson projects and disney (not a fan a disney but even his videos in disney are great)
strange æons has done some great videos on onision that were good and i used to watch them a lot but can’t remember anything other than the onision book review videos so that’s all i can recommend from them
but Jenny Nicholson is the greatest - I’m not even interested in most of the topics she covers but she’s so interesting? entertaining and compelling
Also Jenny Nicholson always commits to the video by completely involving herself in the topic not just for the video but in her real life and learning like every bit of lore for what she’s covering
