Okay, I just HAVE TO share my thoughts on the new Alex G album… The summer before 8th grade, an internet friend of mine (we met through the fan page I ran for The Garden😭) posted about how much she loved Alex and specifically his song Sandy. I went to Alex’s Bandcamp and started with the first track listed, Joy. I instantly fell in love and listened to his entire discography at the time. I had never heard music like that before, which opened up an entirely new musical world for me. I have an obsessive personality, so as a teen I was biggg fan girl, almost unhealthy… I wanted to know everything about him, gather all the lore, read every interview, and watch every video posted on YouTube (which I successfully did until he gained more recognition). This was before he released Rocket.  I joined an Alex discord server and met some of the most important people in my life at the time. No better feeling than bonding with other high schoolers across the country over our love for music! We met each other irl and traveled at least once a year to visit each other. I started a record label with them and met my bff at the time, who I also dated for 5 years. Even though we are not a part of each other's lives anymore, I am forever grateful for those experiences. As a depressed teenager, I really needed them and Alex’s music. I’ve met him about 6 or 7 times and seen him live at least 10 times. I’m proud of his success, totally different vibe than when I discovered him. I understand why people like the music so much! It's the same reasons that appealed to me. Although it will never be the same, I will be a fan until the end of time. My favorite musician of all time, no one compares!!! I feel so happy today :) My top tracks from Headlights: Bounce Boy, Far and Wide, Louisiana, and Spinning, but I love them all!!! I will be listening to this album on repeat. Music Is Awesome And Brings People Together 🥲

I started hearing about Alex G around the same time! In between DSU-Beach Music was a pivotal time for me personally and it felt like Alex provided exactly what I needed to hear to help me through it. A lot of people have described his music as having this very depressing undertone which elicits really strong emotions for some; others may not like feeling like that all the time. For me, I've always held a precious connection to the macabre aspects of life that I draw inspiration from. Alex just has such a knack for bringing out that inspiration through his music. For Headlights, I feel that same tug at the deeper, murkier themes he's always leaned into, but this time it feels more like a hopeful feeling with intention? He sings about this crossroads hes at with money, age, his own legacy in some ways. I'm excited to be present and growing along with this era of Alex G's music

well said! <3 I agree that this album feels more hopeful and intentional. A fun thing about being an alex fan is trying to decipher what the lyrics mean and figure out the story being told. This time it’s clear that he is singing about his life. I love it thank you for commenting I enjoyed your response! :)

Support our independent cinema screens!! I am a Londoner so I have memberships with BFI, Prince Charles and Picturehouse and it is totally worth it, especially as watching movies takes up a good chunk of my personality and I dislike watching things at home. Advanced screenings, access to smaller films, discounted tickets are all great but it’s also just nice to support these places who do so much in preserving the British independent film scene which is currently in an abysmal state. Curzon, Everyman, The Garden, Genesis, ICA and many more are also all great and I would be members of them all if I could. Big up BFI especially because I probably wouldn’t have got as far in both my career and love of film without them, and the Northampton Filmhouse in my hometown which was my first independent cinema.
These are of course London based examples but I encourage everyone to support their local independents 🫶🏻

The best movie theater in New York seats 35. See a movie here you know nothing about and you will be inspired. For me most recently it was a screening of Dave Wascavage’s Suburban Sasquatch. Simple Town has been lucky enough to play videos here twice. The first night was packed, the second night we sold two tickets, and both nights were perfect.

Relationships seem to be a big theme on this social media platform ! And I’ve seen a lot of great advice for dating!! On Sunday I met this hella cute girl through my friend’s friend and I was so nervyyyy I didn’t ask for her number or talk one on one much… I talked with my friend’s friend and we exchanged instas (big fan of getting people instagrams then never seeing eachother ever again but follow forever) and i happened to find cute girls insta… i am going to message her today and shoot my shot 🫣 #nerveracking I’ve only been in one relationship — started at 16, lasted for 5yrs, ended a year ago — so I’ve been single for a year and first time making a move with anyone let along pretty girl ! (Ex was man…)wish me luck if it doesn’t work out I’ve learned to love ‘oh wells’ so we shall see 🤭
