i love signing up for research studies without knowing anything about them and just going to get my blood drawn and hair and saliva collected for an afternoon in exchange for an 85$ gift card… i am the ideal lab rat because i am willing to do anything. put me in that maze!
(i signed a form and now my biomaterial legally belongs to the university)
Forgot about the best one. My school friends group chat. We went on holiday to Italy just before covid broke, a week later it was announced that anyone who’d recently come back from Italy had to go into isolation and be tested if we had symptoms. we all had various cold symptoms so got tested, and my friend Amy was the 23rd person in the U.K. to test positive. I got tested in the back of an ambulance by 2 drs in essentially bin bag nun habits after a paramedic picked me up from my house in full ghost busters hazmat suit. Its number 2 because Amy moved to Spain (unrelated) and changed her number so we had to start a new group as she was group admin. There’s an article in our local city rag about Amy’s covid experience that includes a photo of my friend Josie in an inflatable pig suit with no explanation (attached).
Getting diagnosed with a dummy rare genetic disease (0.02% of people worldwide have this genetic mutation 🤪)
Having to start life-long immunosuppressants (still during a pandemic btw. And they are a DAILY injection 🤪) Not having the energy to focus on the little pixels of my pocket screen (that energy just going to fighting with health insurance, scheduling/attending more medical shit, and maintaining this flesh bag so it stays physically present in this world 🤪) If I missed anything that important downplay it so I don't get fomo 💟
