There's just something so evocative about her work - and there's no editing! I think that's part of the charm too - these very surrealist pictures viewed with the knowledge that she set up and captured everything in real time. It makes things like the broom and cusion photos here very impressive to me!
I watched a Jamie Windsor video last night about Roland Barthes concept of the punctum of a photograph - an emotional connection a viewer feels to a photo beyond what the photo signifies. It’s not something a photographer can control, and the viewer might not even know what elicited the feeling. (my paraphrasing might not be completely accurate) I get that all the time with SV’s work even though her photos, at a glance, look stoic.
