“i don’t mind cleaning/i like cleaning” oh well i bet you don’t have years worth of crap built up in your room from years worth of (you guessed it) not cleaning your room! i have all this stuff that i don’t know what to do with, both stuff i want to keep but don’t know where to put and stuff that’s useless but i feel bad throwing away free me from this torture

i read online somewhere that a good method for uncluttering is the Shit Method. sounds gross, okay, but you ask yourself, honestly and truly, if this item got shit on it, would you throw it away or clean it? if the answer is clean it, you probably genuinely treasure that item. if you would toss it, it likely doesn’t hold as much sentimental value as you thought and could do with getting rid of!

purposefully keeping your room messy

i’m moving out soon and i’ve been in a giant empty house all summer and it has successfully driven me insane multiple times, and i’m still in the process of throwing things out day by day so every day the space i’ve known for three years is only getting emptier
so i started leaving clean laundry in a little pile, unread new yorkers in a different pile, a stuffed animal to be put in vacuum bag but rn just sits on top of an opened and packed suitcase full of stuff, a bag of things to be thrown out right besides my bed, and i‘m proud to say that my room has never looked messier
this is the one time that i’m sure somehow the mess is helping my mental health instead of making it worse

most of the time it’s internet archive but i’ll take anything (to a point obviously i actually have some standards for illegal websites) i’ve actually been so successfully recently though so try it won’t work really for newer films which obviously makes sense but if you don’t want to pay like £10 for a film that isn’t really on many streaming services then try this and you might win
