this was so awesome. my only recommendation is find the cheapest place possible and DONT go for sunday brunch because we waited 25 minutes at 2 separate places. our bad though
2 years in a row now I take myself out for breakfast/brunch at Post on East 3rd. I’m talking coffee AND orange juice, a main AND a side. IF you are going to see people I feel like that is an evening thing…plus I rarely spend money on breakfast/brunch - so it’s extra special. They have an awesome quiet backyard too if it’s warm enough. EDIT: I see that I missed because you asked for inexpensive or free. Let me give another rec —> there are many places that give out free stuff on your birthday (I shall link) and I would pair it with a $10 yoga class at St. Mark’s Yoga or a suuuuper long WSH walk, maybe around sunset.
im talking the 50s style diners, the small breakfast place that is family owned, the restuant that has become a local chain and only exists in one state, the bar that one guy has continually owned since the beginning of time, the tiny soda bar that popped up nearby, the coffee shop run by an ex-convict donating money to charity in their small town. the stuff that you could get for cheaper at a fast food place but let's be honest the experience at one of these places is more human and more yummy all for it
