a really weird movie. one of those movies where you’re thinking “this movie is fucking weird” while watching, but you’re left with a good feeling when it’s over. what i took from it, considering myself a songwriter, is that you can‘t project onto artists or strive to be like them. everyone’s got their own struggle, sometimes it’s secret. i love domhnal gleeson too, so that makes it even better.
Really fascinating, weird, dark, while also being incredibly funny and charming. unlike anything I’ve seen before & cool soundtrack. Can be incapsulated by this letterboxd review:
even though it also made me cry, this movie really made me laugh. Especially the scene with the statue, but also a lot of other times. No big comedy punchlines, just the funny awkwardness of daily human existence. Kieran Culkin is such a funny actor, I had a huge crush on Roman Roy. love that also in this movie, even though his characters carry a sadness/heaviness, they’re still super witty and playful.
Whenever I discover a new place to visit, I immediately add it to a list. It feels like I'm collecting an inventory of places and it helps reduce stagnation in my life. Bonus: it's a great tool for making plans with indecisive friends and perfect to share with tourists!
