I’ve been listening to this album on repeat since it came out. There’s this lyric on it, “I feel nothing, just the chlorine blue” that feels like the thesis of the album. It’s the feeling of driving home after going swimming. My friend described it as being in a rip curl. It’s all so peaceful and enveloping. The palette it explores is so delicate and pretty, very digital but still human, like nothing I’ve heard before. And it backs it all up with just really beautifully written pop songs. There are real ear worms here. So put this on after a dip in some water and let it envelop you.

even on first listen, i cant possibly sit thru this album without feeling a profound sense of longing. its hypnotic in a deeply melancholic way that idk how to describe. This was heavy in my rotation for a long time & now I usually skip it unless im ready for a tsunami of emotions

I found Palace while on a deep Beach Fossils rabbit hole and I’ve had them on almost every new playlist I’ve made since.
‘When Everything Was Lost’ feels like such a great breakup / nostalgia song. And then ‘Son’ right after gives me a strange sense of hope? I think their previous albums felt a little more upbeat, or higher in spirit. But I like how Ultrasound feels different in its undertones, a little bit reflective and a little bit defeated, and yet hopeful. I think it’s a great rainy day album and start to finish it flows seamlessly.
