ben folds did his THING on that shit. family of me? heist? please—the girls today can’t TOUCH what he was on.
i liked hoodwinked as a kid, but i saw a clip of it a couple years ago (i think we played it at work for the kids), and WOW has animation come far. i think it was computer generated vs hand-drawn, which may be why it looks like….that. but iconic film. that grandma was RUTHLESS.

it reminds me of my childhood, my relationship with my little sister, the wonder and whimsy of nature and the limitless feeling your imagination gives you when you’re a kid. studio ghibli is unmatched vibes!!! porco rosso and nausicaa are also faves.
my sister and i must’ve watched hoodwinked a hundred times over when we were little, the soundtrack?!? ICONIC!!!

I will never shut up about this movie. I get that it’s not the best, but finding it randomly on Netflix changed me in ways I can’t explain. the animation and music amazes me
honorable mentions: Cats Don’t Dance and Fantasia
I’ve seen Hoodwinked btw, and I liked it as a kid. also, if you see this, I was wondering where you’re from, roughly? I noticed that you spell favourite different than we do in America. I used to mix up certain words like that because I would read books by British/European authors

Who Framed Roger Rabbit, even though it’s a hybrid of animation and live action, absolutely blew my mind when I first watched it, even though it was only like two years ago. But if we’re talking strictly animated, it’d have to be the reconstruction project for The Thief and the Cobbler. It has one of the most interesting yet tragic production histories, but thanks to a devoted fanbase, it’s come to see the light of day as its creator intended. Also features Vincent Price in his final performance before his death. I’m on mobile and I don’t know how to link lol but hereā€˜s the recobbled cut of it! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BKTCSLbjhtM

unfortunately, google doesn’t let you opt out of using their ridiculously inaccurate and environmentally damaging ai ā€œtoolā€, but if u add ā€œ-aiā€œ to the end of ur google search, it won’t generate! unfriendly reminder that ai will use 6.6 BILLION cubic meters of water annually by 2027. each response w 100 words = 1.2 bottles of water.
ps fuck all these tech companies for not letting us opt out of unreliable tools that destroy our planet

we’re watching soaps together (young and the restless, bold and the beautiful). she and her mom used to watch the same shows together when she was younger. it’s a happy memory for her. whenever i’m at work, mom texts me updates from the show. it’s a very sweet ritual we’ve just started. it’s fun to watch her reminisce about old storylines and explain who everyone is to me. we’ve started a new soap together called beyond the gates. even more special to begin the show with her. a new tradition built upon an old one. i look at my mom as a treasure of information of which i’ll never reach the bottom. she’s getting older, and i keep thinking about how one day, i’ll wish i’d been nicer, or more open, or taken out my headphones to listen to her talk just to talk. on days when those thoughts are overwhelming, i settle for spending time with her in the calm afternoon of her lunch break and listening to her talk about phyllis and victor and jill and cricket. sometimes, she talks over the show, but tbh i’m more interested in what she has to say than the storylines.
