Bro no more Instagram Boomerang selfies leave that shit back in 2017 😭 especially the mirror ones
I shouldn’t have to explain why trauma dumping is bad lmao
I once had this massive crush on a girl I used to go to hs with, and reconnected with her when I moved back home after college. Like yeah, she was very superficially attractive and seemed into me at first but the minute I go on a couple dates with her I quickly realize that the lights were on but practically no one was home. Dry texter, personality of a Dasani water bottle, had the most basic, by the numbers, music and fashion taste, seemed like she lacked any “original“ thoughts, and did things she did only because other girls in her friend group did them. Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V ass mentality. This greatly disappointed me and from then on I knew to steer clear of that particular genre of women.
Make friendships with people who actually enjoy talking with you.

I’m tired of my friendships only being sustained through the exchange of memes and reels. i crave proper conversations- where the other person shows equal interest.
I’m tired of people pretending to not care or not be too interested or that they have other options?! ughhhh
we are all too scared of being perceived differently from how we wish to be perceived because of how much we get to control our image on the internet (read receipts off- can’t let them know i read their message)
It feels like people literally throw their phone away in the fear that they’ll seem too interested after they message you- which defeats the entire point of a conversation.

Lately I have been daydreaming about deleting Instagram, but everytime I get close to doing it, the same thing always pull me back.
I emigrated to London from Spain for university in 2017 and I haven't moved back since. The feeling of missing out on the goings on back home... It hasn't gone away.
Instagram has become my link to faraway friends. It's how I know when they change their hair, or get a new boyfriend, or get a dog, or break their ankle. Of course I talk to my closest friends now and then but converstaions can loose their informality when you don't see each other often.
The truth is that I don't want to have a deep conversation everytime I talk to friends from back home. The obligatory "How's work? How's your partner? When are you coming back? How's your mother?". It makes me feel that everytime I reach out to one of them they feel obligated to rattle through all these questions. I want to talk about stupid stuff, stuff that doesn't matter, what your Dad said, the fight you had with your sister, that weird thing you saw the other day.
On Instagram I can be a fly on the wall watching all that stupid shit they put on their story and feel like I'm still a part of their life and their a part of mine. But at the same time I know that these snippets I grab now and then are not connections of quality.
Does anyone else who moved away have the same feelings about social media?

Since the month ended, I went through the same stressing ordeal of posting a photo dump (which got worse after deleting the app since doing it on a computer is an even more terrible experience). Spent 30+ minutes sweating over photos... and it kept deleting one image, so I had to post it three times. Then I just sat there staring at the grid, overthinking what people would say. My closest friends commented jokes or 💕, and everyone else just liked it. That. Was. It. It’s not a big deal. It’s the smallest fucking deal ever. I felt really fucking stupid afterwards. This isn’t even my main — it’s a private account. Maybe we should all just... chill? (I say to my reflection in the mirror)

Everything in your life does not have to be subscription based, and subscription does not equate a service being good. If I’m paying $24.99 a month to watch Netflix in 4K UHD, I should expect to see what I pay for, not subpar playback latency, low bitrate streams, many app crashes, and overall looking terrible on anything that isn’t a 4K display.
Remember when you could buy things and own them, like, forever?
There is a better world out there past Netflix, Hulu, Spotify and Amazon Prime.
