being intentional and making something unique for your friends is cool!! it’s also a fun way to learn something new - like these felt banners I’ve never made before but decided to try!!
i recently discovered i love gift giving. also discovered i love personalizing gifts even more. i sat in the park and painted this for my friend who is having a house colding party (he’s utilizing the rooftop one last time). this was completely free hand and so fun to make. i have a letter making kit i antiqued and i taped one inside. this truly is how i love, through creativity! i’ve never had anyone make a gift for me but i would love nothing more.
Making your friends or family a homemade gift will take the cake every time. I painted my dad a mug with a map of all his favourite hills on it and the man ate it upppp. My friend drew me a picture of a vase with my favourite flowers in it and I get all warm and fuzzy when I look at it.
People love when you take the time to know them and show that you know them. it feels good to know that people remember what you like and what you’d appreciate
I’ve never considered drawing things for people and giving them as gifts until this year. So far I’ve started a drawing for my mom and I think it’s coming out pretty good! I think it’s really fun to come up with art ideas for your loved ones. I also think the pressure of it being a gift makes me challenge myself much more. All around I’m having fun and I think people should hand make gifts more in general!
Both of Aimee Nezhukumatathil‘s nonfiction collections are always my go-to rec for readers because she combines personal stories to science facts (animals in this one and food in Bite by Bite!) I love her poetry too but her essays are a bit more digestible for the average reader!!
Maggie Lindemann has been my girl for years now and she released a new single from her new era! “One of the Ones” is leaning more towards house music than her normal punky-pop and it is such a vibe ⚡️ I’ve been chasing the high of brat summer from last year and this definitely lives up to that hype for me!
