I didn’t grow up watching her on tv, but after hearing about some of her interviews, they intrigued me to learn more. and even though I didn’t really watch her, I had seen Victorious for the first time not long before reading the book. so, I was able to understand some of the things mentioned with Dan Schneider. it’s troubling to think about the things that child actors went through from such an early age, but that’s why I’m glad she spoke out about it and was able to raise awareness. it was very personal and moving to read
I want to read Cher’s memoir and will probably give a review when I’m done. she’s just so fascinating as both a celebrity and a person

Thank you! Ah I’ve wanted to read this for so long! I said to my friend @ROBOTNIC the other day it’s my favourite memoir I haven’t read yet 😜 some of the themes are very close to home, but I know I’m going to love it. You may like Sarah Polley’s Run Towards the Danger if you havent read yet - also engages with her experiences as a child star. ADORE Cher. Excited about that one too.

@MINDY yeah, ofc! that’s fair. and oh yeah, I’ve heard of that one before, but I’m glad you reminded me of it. I’ll add it to my TBR list 😅 so glad you also like Cher, but I mean, who doesn’t lol

Jennette McCurdy's "I'm Glad My Mom Died" is a good one.
I'm also currently listening to Shari Frankie's " The House of My Mother"
(i swear i don't have mommy issues lol)
It fascinates me how much people remember about their lives when they're writing autobiographies, because I remember so little.

popcorn gives cher the memoir part one by cher five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
the audiobook is EXCELLENT. popcorn learned so many new things about cher’s life and is considering subscribing to her patreon to gain access to cherflix, the video streaming platform of just cher videos and movies. most things popcorn previously knew about cher were from cher the rusical on rupaul’s drag race season 10 (miz cracker was robbed).
cher is truly an incredible woman and popcorn never felt bored. popcorn was also SHOCKED to google sonny bono, click on a suspiciously political headshot, and discover he became a REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMAN!
anyway popcorn’s main takeaway from this memoir is that sonny bono was a horrendous person. seriously fuck that guy.

even the smallest things may not seem to matter in the moment, but when you fast forward a bit, you may be trying to grasp the memory without any luck. writing things down, taking pictures, collecting, etc. is all so important.

my parents used to judge me and think I was weird for talking to myself when I was younger. I’m sure they still do, but they’re less vocal about it as they used to be. for context, I’m an only child, so talking to myself was nice for when I was bored or whatnot. it’s also helpful for sorting through my thoughts. it’s good to get things out when I don’t feel like talking to anyone in particular. I like to think of it as my own personal podcast.

I’m so glad I found this app. I was looking for a place where I can share more about myself without feeling judged by the people around me. now people can feel a connection towards me being truly myself instead of the mask I’ve been conditioned to put on for others. I imagine handing someone I’ve just met a paper with a link to this profile on it as a fun experiment
