Also this one! Incredibly thorough blending of memoir and horror film criticism and history. It’s so good to see someone‘s commitment to their passion and chosen field. The interweaving of her life with the characters from films is honestly amazing. I listened to the autobook read by the author, although Id love to get my hands on the book to see the pictures to go with it!

This sounds AWESOME. Did you read Monster’s A Fan’s Dilemma? I really appreciated the weaving of personal experience with the film critcisism. House of Psychotic Women sounds like it’s gone even further in that direction in the best way 😍

SUCH a wild ride, we’ve got an affair, a celeb psychic medium, an inter-dimensional cloud of ancestral grief, a failing marriage (and a pregnancy), the Russian Revolution, generational trauma, Soviet orphanages, and at least three questionable women —I feel like this is a superb book for the Moshfegh, batuman, emma cline, Mona Awad crowds

I'm recommending this one specifically because it helped me really get back into reading after years of neglecting my literacy.
Super fun vampire novel about growing up, womanhood, family, art, and being true to yourself despite the consequences.
