Thirteen is coming back to Netflix and I’m so thrilled that I can watch it again. Again. And again. I believe this movie is solely for only teenage/ young adult girls to watch because its real experiences that growing girls face. No man will understand the complexity of the female brain and what it does and will put us through.
I watched this a little too young but to this day is one of my favorite movies. it’s dark but one of the realest female coming of age films I’ve ever seen. also a big source of style inspiration.
it’s camp and almost entirely insane, but it’s a bit like a time capsule into the early 2000s. thirteen is a y2k gem, but it’s more an edgy coming of age than fashion focused film. it’s just super fucking stylish.
my profound attachment to this movie is probably something i should unpack with a therapist... nonetheless, it is absolutely nasty, creepy, and reminiscent of all the aspects of girlhood i struggled with the most. u should definitely check it out :)
