Maybe it's because I had to write 4 essays about the movie & book in college, but I'm obsessed with The Shining! Also honourable mentions to The Descent and Murnau's Nosferatu!
@CHRONICWEBUSER my college had themed English and cinema classes 😅 a few of them were horror themed when I was attending 🖤 and then I joined an entry level English class in uni and one of the books was The Shining 🥴
The vampire is so versatile so there isn't one way to depict them as long as you adhere the core theme/conflict of their nature. Some favorites: Dracula (book and movie)
Byzantium (invented a brand new mythology)
Bones and All
The Hunger
Jennifer's Body
Shiki
Midnight Mass
#DRCL Midnight Children

Let the Right One In Reading Fledgling rn and digging it, and I expect Robert Eggers's Nosferatu will be on this list.
Stanley Kubrick’s contribution to horror is a masterpiece of a film. Jack Nicholson has one of his best performances of his career and Shelley Duvall perfectly matches him. This movie fills you with dread and with every rewatch, you discover something new about the film.
crimson peak, bram stoker’s dracula, nosferatu, the others. perfect spooky atmospheric stuff. i’m also a fan of slashers like scream, my bloody valentine and halloween because who isn’t. and as for movies that actually scared the hell out of me, try religious horrors like the excorcist, prince of darkness, the omen and rosemary’s baby.
Whenever I discover a new place to visit, I immediately add it to a list. It feels like I'm collecting an inventory of places and it helps reduce stagnation in my life. Bonus: it's a great tool for making plans with indecisive friends and perfect to share with tourists!
