not to be so heinously self-promotional but i wrote about the return of sincerity and how exhausting online apathy and irony has been for the last decade or so. talked a little bit about PI and why sincerity is such a defining part of this amazing community (that i'm so grateful to be a part of building). let me know your thoughts if you read it!
wow man, this is a really poignant read. You perfectly encapsulated the different sociopolitical shifts that this generation has gone through throughout the past decades. As someone who loves DC, I am so glad that Superman 2025 turned out to be what it is–a successful movie that really touched audiences in a sincere way not a lot of media has as of late. I look forward to the new era of sincerity and communal celebrations of individuality and earnestness–cause I’m a punk rocker, yes I am 🎶
Great read, love this line “Today's sincerity is less about saving the world and more about building a world worth saving, starting with your own corner of it.”
very comprehensive and easily digestible read despite my unfamiliarity with superhero cinematic universes! i have been standing on my “bring back sincerity” soapbox for some time now and i hope earnest engagement with the world makes a huge comeback soon.
@DEARDOVESWINGS yes to earnesty! some folks at a party last winter were making fun of ppl being earnest to me and i revealed, “i’m very earnest and don’t see what’s wrong with it. what’s your definition of that word?” and they said, “oh sorry we’re just bitches. when ppl are too honest and sincere, it’s like ew. where’s your edge?” and i said “okay bye” 😄
Did a write up on my personal substance that isn't about clothing (gasp!) and would love to hear any thoughts, especially opposing ones. In our cultural climate where opinions are thrown in our faces daily, I think it's important for us to weigh out what matters and what doesn't. I talk about ancient Hebrew literature and I make fun of Marvel movies - What more can you ask for?
accountability, americana and how the sweet east and lana del rey have more in common than i initially thought. thank you to cronemaiden for putting the movie on my radar!
always feels so wildly vulnerable, but i’m so grateful for the straightforward invitation to self promote :^) mine is largely essays/poems about grief, aging, and mundanity.
if you check it out, i hope you like it! ♥️
I didn’t go for four years now I have 4 cavities :/ getting them filled on Monday because the doctor said that if I didn’t soon one of them might need a root canal
had at least 3 birthdays here when I was a kid. it was a massive subterranean mars-themed restaurant with an elevator that looked and felt like a rocket ship (even though it only actually went 2 floors down). pretty sure they turned it it into din tai fung.
