there is nothing better than supporting your local dive and having one (or three) cold $5 modelos with lime. somehow, you top that with some live country and bluegrass⊠or whatever the group of retired gentlemen decide to play that night. and then lastly, you watch people old enough to have danced on these floors when the place was still fresh nearly fifty years ago. still saving a dance for eachother every wednesday night.
We have a spot by us thatâs been here for something like 75 years. They have a dish on the menu called âmeatball saladâ that is better than it sounds. The walls are wood paneled. We come here every few weeks to dish with our favorite bartenderâshe lives on our blockâabout all the hot new neighborhood gossip. Theyâre filming âThe Bearâ on our block and thereâs absolutely no parking. Weâre all inconvenienced, letâs dish! She makes a great club soda with lime and my husband always asks what the specials are from the kitchen. Itâs cash only. Chicago, we love you because youâre made up of dives like this, dotting corners in every neighborhood of this town.
look im not a huge club guy, so I found my happy place at this tiny bar downtown called Mr. Dooleyâs where they pour one of the most delicious Guinnessâs Iâve ever tasted and an older Irish man played live music all night. it was just lovely and warm and I could speak with people I didnât know - just so relaxing and fun and nice, more wholesome for me :)))
went to the local dive bar for the first time and it was so chill, didnt know how to play pool so i shot the white ball off the table about 3 times and was quite inebriated to be fair but the smoking room had darumaka. Also someone there offered me their guitartuna when i started playing the bar guitar
