CHELSEA WOLFE

🧙‍♀️✨  The Witch Wave, ⛓️🎹  Aindulmedir, 🎤🌀 EarthQuaker Afterneath reverb, and more.

Chelsea Wolfe is a Northern California-based singer and songwriter. I remember discovering *Apokalypsis *and listening to it for the first time years ago – an album that I just could not get enough of, this decadently dark and droning experimental rock/ electronic project. Chelsea has since continued to put out entrancing music, and worked on the soundtrack for Ti West’s X, amongst other cool projects (like this collab album with Converge, or this Xiu Xiu feature). Last month, she put out the Unbound EP which, in her own words, “contains stripped-down versions and new arrangements of songs” from her album She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She which dropped this past February. Lucky for us, Chelsea’s here to tell us what she’s been into.

Pam Grossman is such a wonderful writer, leader, and tastemaker. On this podcast she conducts uniquely interesting conversations with witches or witchy-leaning folks from all walks of life, from multi-talented queen Jinkx Monsoon, to Bri Luna aka The Hoodwitch, celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff, even comedian Chris Fleming (a personal fave).

I don’t know much about Aindulmedir / Pär Boström, but I know they’re from Sweden, and that I want to collaborate with them. I love the album Star Lore. “The Hermit’s Sleep” is my anthem. Dungeon synth calls to me.

This is a guitar pedal that I use on my voice. I put it last in the chain for a little extra magic for certain parts of the song, or turn the length down if I’m keeping it on for a whole song. It’s a tiny cave on my pedal board.

During the pandemic home times I got really into putting an ambient room on in the background while I was reading. I love a library room with sounds of dust crackles and book pages turning. This creator Miracle Forest makes a lot of great ones with their own little story like “Hiding in the bathroom at a weird gathering,” or “Abandoned gas station at the end of the world.”

I started a practice this year of pulling a tarot card every morning, using prompts I write for myself each month, considering what’s on my schedule, what phase the moon will be in, and so on. (A gift to future self) Then I’ll meditate on how I can implement the wisdom of that card into my day. It’s a good way to ground before stepping out into interacting with other humans.
