Holy Fawn demonstrates a mastery of controlling the ebb and flow of emotions in all their work. They take you from restrained intros and verses setting up the atmosphere with ethereal, droning melodies and vocals into swelling and intense choruses and instrumentals with fuzzy, distorted guitar and screaming vocals. I've never been a fan of screaming vocals but they use it so effectively and so selectively to add energy at just the right moment in the song. Nothing is used excessively, everything is in good taste, all of it culminating in an engaging journey through a mystical fantasy world. Best enjoyed at the loudest tolerable volume.
