All of my recent favorite items of clothing have been purchased in-person at a retail store. They remind me of when, where, and who I was at the time of making the purchase. Shoutout to Stag Provisions in Austin, Field Theory in St. Louis and Marshall Goods in Chapel Hill.
Lately I've only been wearing designs my friends made. Like Go Home Eli, Duality Junkie, FFF, David Enth and some one off pieces and of course thrifted pieces. There are some designer pieces in my closet but even those brands I’ve developed close relationships with. I just figure if you're gonna go out and buy some shit it might as well be from the homies and keep the money in the same network.
It doesn't matter where— coffee shop, bar, laundromat, indian restaurant… nothing more powerful than familiarity & friendship with the folks who keep your life going
Similarly, there’s a thriving ecosystem of small/independent internet radio stations across the globe, each with their own distinct rotation of dj’s and broadcasters... If you’re looking for music discovery and community, ditch the streaming service algos and turn your radio 🙂 some of my favorites include: NTS, The Lot, Kiosk, 8ball, shift, kiosk, palanga, n10.as, noods, and chuntFM
small college radio stations & independent radio is where i find the best music that i've never heard of. or just some wild freak shit. either way its great
