I like local news to tune into my surroundings. I really like bakersfiold local news. The music channels play the hits and since we and my roommates are into that shit we like vevo and the jukebox channel

Keeps me updated on news/current events but I don’t constantly feel like the world is ending. I think part of that is the local stories on new bus routes or the upcoming 5k that are mixed in with all the national and international stuff, and they’re also good about trying to avoid extreme reporting bias. Public radio is my favorite way to stay informed, stay connected, and stay grounded! :D

Recently, my car's aux finally broke for good, so while I wait to replace it, I've been listening to my local alternative radio station. The traffic report is super helpful and I love my DJs!! Like, these are people in my community that have been on the air for at least 10+ years and I love that I can trust them. Sometimes I'll tune in and it's really not my thing but then the next song is so near and dear to my heart. Maybe it's because my friend's mom would pick us up either blasting Kendrick's DAMN or 92 The ZEW, but it's such a nice nostalgic feeling for me. It's crazy to tune into the radio and hear the same voice introduce the same song that I heard ten years ago with my bestie. So try pausing your playlist and let the DJs guide you next time you buckle up.

Last summer while traveling I got a pocket radio so that instead of listening to my same Spotify playlists I could tap in to the pulse of wherever I was visiting. It was such an amazing experience of feeling connected to place and feeling very aware of the people around me. like I am part of this! We are all part of this!!
I could rant forever about why I’m passionate about local radio…but we all know music is an incredible mechanism to connect/communicate with people- and where hits stations loose identity, algorithm driven streaming becomes such an island. Local radio fills an important niche of here. now. us. we. are experiencing this together

There were also a couple songs from party girl which were har hitters but the two above came from very intense movies. Tajabone comes from all about your mother which is (?) Questionable but interesting.
Otherwise mama Asia is a fun blend of eastern European acid house and it comes from теснота (closeness)which is a Russian movie set in chechnya or southern Russia and has a lot of strong themes of family trauma and... Stuff like that. Not unlike sweetie but more intense, no humor. Sick, type dope haze of late 90s similar in style which we make of movie by name of party girly (1995)
