my roommates and i got so many single serve hot chocolate packets for christmas and we wanted to get rid of them. each of us made a packet and then poured them into shot glasses and guessed which it was. it was super fun and great way for them to not go to waste!

such a cute thing to do for yourself, sometimes ill make a big batch at night, drink some of it, then store the rest in a pitcher in the fridge to make a mocha with the next few mornings.

I am a Carnation HC mix fan like everyone else HOWEVER there is something so pleasant on a miserable cold wet day about warming up the milk and cocoa powder and brown sugar on your stovetop in a cute little pot :) (also I like to use my handheld frother right before serving/enjoying)

tuesday afternoon, my family got some really traumatic news. i was supposed to take the train back to school but my mom wanted us to all drive (mind you it was 3pm and it's a 4 hour drive). we spent the car ride telling each other how much we love each other, starting arbitrary conversation to distract ourselves, sobbing, and laughing. we went out to dinner, my parents dropped me off and they spent another 4 hours driving home in the middle of the night. i called my dad the next day and he said it was his favorite drive to ann arbor that he's ever done. it was such a pure expression of full emotion and as painful as it was, it was also incredibly beautiful to connect like that.

i went over to my neighbors a few weekends ago to watch the lions game and we got to talking about bbq. one of them suggested we try slows in detroit and instead of making those hypothetica plans i actually followed through and got it on the gcal. we went on a wednesday and had a blast! the bible is always talking about knowing and loving thy neighbor and i understand that now.
