a film platform with some of the best and most obscure films I’ve ever come across. I’ve found a few favourites on there too (eraserhead, where is the friends house, dogtooth). It introduced me to a new favourite genre, experimental horror (see outer space directed by peter tscherkassy) and experimental cinema in general. I cannot believe how diverse filmmaking can be! you can do anything with the medium. mubi showcases this in so many ways.
Idk how streaming services are in the states but imo mubi has a lot of international movies that I don’t find on other platforms. I also like that they have a podcast and they feature a lot of mini collections like “women directors“ etc. watched a lot of good movies on there :)
I‘m wondering why we stopped having blogs and writing essays? I want to hear people’s thoughts. I want to share my thoughts! and I don’t want to see these thoughts in a few sentences on twitter or a short Instagram post. I need a 1000+ word essay with images, links, references, book recs, and everything else. I wanna know what’s going on inside your brain.
I need to share this list I made because it is such a blessing to me that I can just open youtube or vimeo and watch these lovely little movies. there’s a range of them like bergman, tarkovsky, polish films, art-house, weird matthew gray gubler short, experimental horror, short films from the 20’s. how fun.
