how are we doing out there today? have you checked in on your people? did you make that doctor's appointment? did you forget to floss? today, i'm speaking with this up-and-coming young comic ahead of their his first US tour. i remember that. God, i remember that. they don't tell you time goes fast, kids. chase it while you can. i wouldn't fucking do it again, that's for sure. I like my peace. I prefer peace. i mean, i'm still doing it. yes, but it's a different game now. anyway, maybe you've heard of him. i don't know his stuff too well. i've just seen him around, as you do. in the COMEDY WORLD... same circuits and clubs, different eras. this new generation of comics is a mixed-bag. but i'm hopeful. anyway, interesting guy...quite the character. here we go.

if you're tired of the fart-huffers that usually pass for "public intellectuals" in american discourse, doomscroll podcast (and all of joshua citarella's work) is probably the breath of fresh air you've been looking for. it certainly is for me each episode centers around an interview with someone who's in some way at the crossroads of politics and the internet, and the range of guests he's got on is immense - established academics, random internet weirdos, the guy from The 1975 - but he's always able to ground their conversation in the larger context of the modern age. it genuinely feels like a piece of media for our time, instead of engaging in the infantile 60s counter-culture cosplay that a lot of these projects tend to fall into. can't recommend enough

First-Ballot Hall of Fame podcast. Stories about the indie music scene of the early 2000s, the tech-blog glory days, and walking across Europe. My favorite “genre” of podcasts is whatever you call long form conversations between people with great chemistry and good understanding of the medium. Merlin and John, to my brain, are the best at that. From episode 01 ("Keep Moving and Get Out of the Way") they were already making what would be gems of P.I. Recs. At the same time, I struggle to recommend it. John and Merlin have been recording their weekly conversations since September 2011, 12.5 years ago. 1/8 of a century ago. Is this how Star Trek / Doctor Who fans feel when they see the emptiness in my eyes as they begin explaining how the show peaked on its 17th season but the ride is worth it? Still, one of my absolute favorite things in life. #supertrain

My wife just started this with her friend Marissa, and I’m so excited about it. If you're feeling the doom and gloom of the present moment and want to feel empowered to do something about it, look no further!

less attachment to identity markers and more-sensory driven living/being. staying conscious and in touch with our core essence and saying yes to life when the forces that be make it very easy to say no and cut ourselves off from others and the rest of the world. embodying this truth can ignite a sense of freedom and liberation that is a sexy balm...if you are into that kinda thing

nothing short of a spiritual advisor. here he is illuminating a truth I believe we all feel to be true when down and out but often forget/neglect out of allegiance to self-pity or the traps of misery. this could almost read as a hallmark card quote, but it exists elsewhere...so by default, it is its own thing. I do not mean to be sentimental about suffering— but people who cannot suffer can never grow up, can never discover who they are.
