Everyone capable should try running 20 miles at least once in their life, with or without music.. there are merits to either experience.. and unless you’re trying to win money.. in my opinion just disregard that arbitrary marathon shit, and indulge your account in some of those god given 5/10 finger multiples, i’m honestly even a bigger proponent of running by time 1 hr 2 hr etc…running 20 miles in 2 hours feels nice it’s nothing crazy but everyone is different just get there somehow figure it out it’s easier than you think

I’m not really a fan rn because marathon training has been hell but it’s a good time to ponder and reflect on anything (triathlons dont let you wear headphones so i go no music sometimes). Definitely try going on scenic routes and change it up every now and then, treadmills feel better for your legs but it’s such a boring run not having anything to look at. Tbh running isnt for everyone either, I have way more fun and look forward to a good swim or bike ride, and thats ok! Shoutout to everyone who enjoys running though, i wish i was you!

To me a long run is five miles. To some people that’s so long they can’t believe it and to other people that’s barely getting started. To me it was the perfect distance that my body wanted to move. when I started my run, I was really out of rhythm. I was going too fast, I couldn’t find the right tempo and then when I did I would approach a stop light where I had to pause and lose my stride. I was getting frustrated but then I just kept trying to remember all the times I had a really good tempo for my run! And eventually I leveled out and got there. My goal for March was to run 50 miles and I hit that pretty easily (Thank you to the weather gods). I think the best thing about running is listening to your body, appreciating what it gives you (which is different for everyone!), and seeing constant progress even if it’s small.

I run about 15 miles a week and about 13 of those miles are done while high. I recommend everyone give it a shot. P.S. I was a division one track and field athlete if that makes my advice any more credible.
