Always have, if nothing else, a few lemons in the home (in a bowl on the table) because they come in handy for: salad dressings, water, tea, cocktails, beer, cola in a glass, avocado toast, fish, chicken, potatoes, broths, cayenne cleanses, stain removal, smelling nice.
You squeeze like 6 lemons once a week, 2 if you live alone. you have a jar of fresh lemon juice to put towards stuff like salad and lemonade and canned tuna and anything delicious. it’s the highest form of meal prep because it’s actually just accommodating future cooking. Also (yet untested) pre chopping onions? Because it’s so annoying to chop 1 onion but if you chop like 4 it’s like the same amount of energy.
I remember this one time when I was like 8 or 9 watching chopped and this guy got eliminated for popping a squeeze of lemon over his dish after time had run out. In the heat of the moment I thought that no one could have ever made a more idiotic mistake on one of the greatest cooking shows of all time, but, now in my far superior maturity I’ve come to realize he absolutely knew what he was doing because a squeeze of lemon will improve quite literally anything. I always keep at least 3 on hand in my kitchen and every time I add a squeeze my food tastes like it’s smiling.
