it’s on renaissance portraiture and it has the oldest surviving italian double portrait which is by fra filippo lippi. try to put your feelings of boredom aside for this one
Honoré Daumier was a badass realist and his moody paintings seem to be not so known as his caricature work — this canvas is only about 4x6in but it arrested me completely! @ the Barnes Foundation in PHL
I went to the Met to look at a Kerry James Marshall painting but this piece by Max Beckmann just struck me on my way to the other gallery. an old man and I looked at it together for a while
